We provide Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) services, both MPI and LPI for ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
We specialize in engines, from automotive, power sport, performance, marine, aviation parts and more.
Our Services
With over 30 years of experience, you can be confident in our processes.
We offer industry-leading, unsurpassed Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Services to ensure the safety and reliability of your engine. Our state-of-the-art facility can provide Liquid Penetrant (LPI) and Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) methods to expose cracks and defects not visible to the naked eye. Our Technicians are CGSB (Canadian Government Standards Board) certified, specializing in LPI for all non-ferrous(non-magnetic) components such as aluminum, magnesium or copper, and MPI for ferrous(magnetic) components such as Carbon Steel, Iron, Nickel and Cobalt. Utilizing these methods we can NDT practically every part of your engine, providing you with the peace of mind you can’t put a price on.
Magnetic Particle Inspection
Locates surface and subsurface discontinuities in ferromagnetic material. It is used in a wide variety of industry, both in the production stage and maintenance stage. This method surpasses all others for finding very shallow surface cracks in ferromagnetic material, it is the best method to use for location of fatigue cracks. These cracks occur in parts that are highly stressed and subject to stress variations in service, almost invariably start at the surface and propagate inwards through the section. If these fatigue cracks can be located early in their progress, engine failure can be avoided. Magnetic particle is mostly used for overhaul or maintenance inspection of parts and machinery of all kinds.
Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI)
is a fast, economical and widely used non destructive test method to detect surface-breaking discontinuities in all non-porous materials (metals, plastics, or ceramics).
Penetrant test is based upon the principles of capillary action where liquid penetrates into a cavity.
Penetrant test is performed by cleaning the test surface thoroughly, applying colored or fluorescent penetrant, allowing penetration time, removal of excess penetrant followed by application of developer ( dry or liquid form).
The developer assists to draw penetrant out from the surface breaking discontinuities.
After developer dwelling the test surface is examined for bleed out under natural light or black (UV) light (depending on the type of penetrant).
Fluorescent Dye Penetrant Inspection is the most sensitive test method.
Dye penetrant Inspection is predominantly used on non-ferrous materials in aerospace industries, shipping and offshore, petrochemical industries and stainless industry.
Some of the common parts tested are stainless steel welded joints, aluminum alloys joints, turbine blades, stainless steel fittings, castings and forgings, weld overlays, aerospace engine parts, etc.
